Job Purpose of A Cytoscreener At SSMC Abu Dhabi

Perform cytology screening and analysis for the detection and diagnosis of abnormalities in patient samples.

Your Job Duties As A Cytoscreener At SSMC Abu Dhabi

• Carry out cytology screening.
• Determines competency to perform laboratory activities assigned to perform.
• Participates in training and orientation of new staff and ensure their abidance to the rules and policy.
• Carries out other duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Senior Supervisor.
• Operate equipment in the correct manner including, maintenance, calibration, QC, proper recording & trouble shooting.
• Inform Supervisor / Senior Supervisor of any mal function in equipment.
• Participates in equipment method validation, establish QC, writing SOP’s / procedures and other section activities.
• Maintain inventory of material supplies for daily work and report shortage to Supervisor / Senior Supervisor.
• Ordering the replenishment of materials when necessary.
• Participates in proficiency testing program and apply the program including, receiving, processing & release of results.
• Attends section meetings and comply with outcome actions as required.
• Maintains and follow quality control procedures including trouble shooting and take correct actions.
• Analysis of samples, review, report / release of results.
• Identifies, acts on and report incidents and take part in investigations.
• Participates in quality assessment and quality improvement activities such as internal audit, risk identification, KPI and other activities.
• Participates in accreditation preparation as required.
• Responds to stake holders concerns and complaint reports and participate in correct actions.
• Completes all programs assigned by the hospital, lab department and section specific including training and competency testing.
• Maintains and follow professional and effective communication with patients, family and other medical personnel.
• Performs on call and shift duties as assigned, including weekends, public holidays and during disaster.
• Cytology screen and report negative gynecology cases.
• Cytology screen non gynecology cases.

Qualification & Experience?

Qualification

• BSc in Medical Technology or clinical laboratory science or an equivalent qualification not less than 3 years training course.

Or

• Graduate of an accredited (MLT) program leading to registration with ASCP / ASCLS / CSMLS / AIMS or fellowship of IBMS or other recognized institutions by the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory sciences (IFBLS).

Experience

• 4 years experience in cytoscreening.

License

• Current national license.
