Role of Consultant Physician – Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Responsible for leading and supervising the delivery of high quality evidence based care, effectively and efficiently diagnosing, managing and treating all patients placed under the post holder’s care.
Duties of Consultant Physician – Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
- Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures Helps lead and implement the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes.
- Assists with scheduling and supports the Division Chief in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times.
- Attends Divisional meetings as required Assists the Division Chief in the recruitment of new medical staff when appropriate.
- Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division Chief.
- Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty.
- Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and is assumes responsibility for the care they provide.
- Complies with all established hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices.
- Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources.
- Leads ward round, reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice.
- Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures.
- Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required.
- Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required.
Qualification & Experience
- MBBS or MBBCh or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- Completion of specialty qualification as per the “Recognized Specialty Certificate” from Tier 1 country.
- 2 years of experience after obtaining main specialty qualification.
- 1 year of experience after obtaining sub specialty qualification.
