Al Sharq Healthcare is seeking a qualified Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join their talented team in Fujairah. This job opening was announced by the company on December 19, 2023 and is now open for applications. The selected candidate will participate in the planning and implementation of integrated preventive-curative medical care programs, as related to Obstetrics & Gynecology and supervise the day-to-day activities of the Obstetricians & Gynecologists and other physicians who are assigned to the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department.

Responsibilities of Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecology

• Supervises the activities of the Obstetricians & Gynecologists in Labor and Delivery unit and be available for consultations from them.
• Supervises the activities in the operation theater done under the obstetrics & gynecology department, as well as the out patient and the inpatient departments of Obstetrics & gynecology patients.
• Leader of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology which involves other Obstetrician/Gynecologists. Under this function, she will set the monthly meeting agenda and lead the discussions regarding supervision and direct the preparation of protocols and guidelines for both in-patient and out-patient care of the Obstetrics & Gynecology patients.
• Administers treatments, medications, immunizations, and therapies based on patient needs and medical protocols.
• Regularly monitors patients’ progress, conducts follow-up examinations, and makes adjustments to treatment plans as required.
• Educates patients, parents, and caregivers about health conditions, preventive measures, and promotes healthy lifestyle habits.
• Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including nurses, therapists, and specialists, to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
• Maintains accurate and detailed medical records, including patient history, examination findings, treatment plans, and outcomes.
• Keeps current with the developments in the field of Obstetrics & Gynecology and recommend improved methods, changes in new techniques, and implements these new methods.
• Adheres to medical ethics, regulatory guidelines, and protocols governing Gynecology care, ensuring the highest standard of patient care and safety.

Education & Experience

Following is the required criteria for the role of Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecology:

• Medical Degree, and completion with certification and registration in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology as a Consultant, with recognized from a Tier one (1) country.
• Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP).
• At least 3-5 years’ post qualification experience at Consultant level.

Knowledge & Skills

• Competent in managing basic gynecological surgeries.
• Proficiency in an electronic medical record system.
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to effectively communicate with others.
• Knowledge of clinical audit standards and processes.
• Ability to facilitate and support clinical clerkship training for medical students and junior colleagues.
• Must be competent in managing high risk pregnancies.
