NMC Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and skilled Consultant Gastroenterology to join their team at Bareen International Hospital, MBZC, Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is a Senior level full time job. And salary can range between 20000-40000 AED/month.
Responsibilities of Consultant Gastroenterology
- Physician will maintain an active Privilege per the specialty that is consistent with the scope of services and the required experiences to practice it, which is renewable every 2 years.
- Accurately and competently performs all procedures within the scope of granted privileges.
- Responsible for providing comprehensive consultant level patient care in Gastroenterology .
- Participates equitably in the on call roster.
- Where applicable, participates in the oversight and professional development of junior medical staff
- Participates in the educational activities of the Medical Staff as a whole.
- Conducts Clinical Audits in line with Medical Advisory Committee requirements.
- Participates in review and planning activities relevant to the development of the Gastroenterology Service and the Hospital.
- Participates in activities and opportunities to promote the Gastroenterology Service and the Hospital to the general public and wide medical community of Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
- Fulfills professional requirements for continuing maintenance of competence in all aspects of Gastroenterology.
- Carries out other assigned duties within the appropriate scope of knowledge, skills and abilities of the position.
- Be actively involved in the quality improvement activities within the department.
- Adhering to requirements of the Occupational Health and safety guidelines and infection control guidelines.
- Understanding and adhering to emergency preparedness plans/policies Key Performance Indicators: As per department protocols.
- Appropriate experience and competence in all aspects of the designated area of expertise.
- To provide a general surgical service necessary to meet the needs of patients under the care of Bareen International Hospital.

- Prescribes or administers medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
- Interacts with patient to gather additional history and information about medical condition.
- Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patient.
- Provides specific treatments and/or performs operations to treat patient medical conditions.
- Performs surgical procedures and operations as appropriate.
- Responsible to carry out necessary duties to ensure the best and most cost-effective treatment of patients.
- To undertake pre and post-operative assessment of patients .
- To participate in the Centre’s audit and clinical governance Progamme.
- To contribute to the development of Clinical Quality Standards.
- To undertake all necessary administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients, including but not limited to clinical coding, discharge summaries, letters and reports.
- To be responsible to the Medical Director for the quality of care delivered and the effective and efficient use of the resources under his/her control.
- To contribute to the planning and development of surgical services.
- To contribute to the Centre meetings.
- To contribute to the teaching of Centre staff.
- Responsible for applying medical knowledge and skills to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of illnesses for patients.
- Promote patient care by liaison with all departments.
- Participate in local and national specialty clinical meetings.
- Participate in the in-service education programme and comply with mandatory training requirements, inclusive of CPR, Health & Safety Training and Fire Safety.
- To ensure ongoing medical competence by participating in the annual relicensing and recertification schemes in United Arab Emirates.
- To maintain and develop professional expertise through self-directed learning and continuous professional development.
- To participate in the annual appraisal system with the Medical Director, which will feedback from the Hospital Administrator and other colleagues/patients.
- To promote the centre by demonstrating a customer-focused approach at all times to patients, consultants and staff.
Requirements for Role of Consultant Gastroenterology
- A completion of MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution followed by 1 year rotation Internship.
- Completion of Masters or Tier 1/Tier 2 Board Specialty qualification as per the Recognized Specialty Certificate table with Mandatory Residency Training in Gastroenterology.
- DOH Licensed/DOH Pass as Consultant Gastroenterologist.
- The physician will maintain at all times an active license in home country and an active DOH License consistent with specialty.
- More than 5-7 years’ experience post specialty qualification.
- Experience in UAE with familiarity of Abu Dhabi Insurance regulations.
Skills And Knowledge Desired
Fluency in ARABIC & ENGLISH is preferred.
