Job Purpose of A Commis Chef

  • Assists in the preparation of pastries, desserts, and baked goods under the guidance of a senior pastry chef.
  • Their role involves measuring and mixing ingredients, baking, and ensuring the presentation and quality of pastry items meet culinary standards.
  • They contribute to creating delectable sweets and treats in the kitchen.
  • Assist and learn from experienced chefs while preparing and cooking various dishes in a professional kitchen, gaining culinary skills and expertise.

Duties of A Commis Chef

  • Responsible to provide an excellent and consistent level of service to your customers.
  • Prepare a consistent, high quality food product.
  • Ensure courteous, professional, efficient and flexible service that supports the outlet’s operating concept and Hyatt International standards.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  • Adhere to all relevant Health, Safety and Environment procedures, instructions and controls.
  • Follow established recipe and plating guide provided, to exact specification.
  • Monitor food quality while preparing food.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification
  • High School.
  • Culinary Education or certification.

Experience

  • 1 year work experience as Chef or 2 years as apprentice in a hotel with good standards.

Skills Desired

  • Must have basic culinary skills.
  • Knowledge of good hygiene.
