Job Description

Jumeirah Living Marina Gate presently has a job opening for eligible candidate for the position of a Commis Chef (Amara Lounge) in Dubai, UAE. Job Purpose of A Commis Chef

To prepare a consistent, high quality food product and ensure courteous, professional, efficient and flexible service that supports the outlet’s operating concept and Company’s standards.

Duties of A Commis Chef

  • Follow all company policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  • Adhere to all relevant Health, Safety and Environment procedures, instructions and controls.
  • Follow established recipe and plating guide provided, to exact specification.
  • Monitor food quality while preparing food.
  • Maintain their station and equipment in a neat and orderly fashion to meet the Chef’s expectation.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Carry out all food preparation tasks given by the Demi chef.
  • Follow daily ingredient collection, storage of all items used within the respective kitchen and ensure all areas of section are maintained and clean following established standards.
  • Work to the specifications received by the respective culinary team regarding portion size, quantity and quality as laid down in the recipe index.
  • Attend daily meetings with the Chef de Cuisine and other meetings as requested by the Executive chef/Executive sous chef.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification

  • College Degree in Culinary Arts or similar from an accredited Culinary School.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in a range of kitchen areas, ideally within the luxury hospitality industry.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Expert in hygiene, health and safety knowledge.
  • Expert in product quality and presentation skills.
  • Good command of speaking, reading, and writing English language.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong guest service orientation.
