Responsibilities of Chief Internal Auditor

  • Conducting risk assessment interviews with managers of technical departments as well as heads of non-technical departments, and participating in the preparation of the strategic and annual internal audit plan in light of the results/practice of risk assessment.
  • Exerting professional care in carrying out audit tasks related to the financial, operational, legal and technical aspects of the Authority.
  • Directing internal auditors to conduct interviews, review documents, develop and administer surveys, prepare urgent memos, prepare working papers, and document issues and recommendations related to the audit work.
  • Ensuring the quality of the work carried out by internal auditors.
  • Develop risk-based audit programs.
  • Conduct audit tests in specific areas and determine what issues can be reported.
  • Review the suitability of internal control design and provide recommendations for improving it.
  • Ensure timely implementation and completion of contracts in accordance with the audit plan.
  • Carrying out special tasks, for example: investigations, management consultations and independent reviews in areas related to anti-fraud, risk management and any other related areas.
  • Implementing the work assigned by the Director of the Internal Audit Office based on requests submitted by the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
  • Preparing a draft report for the quality assurance stage.
  • Conducting initial/closing meetings for audit tasks.

What you will do more?

  • Preparing audit files for completed audit tasks, archiving them, and reviewing audit documents uploaded via the audit office tool.
  • Coordinate with management (under the supervision of the Director of the Internal Audit Office) to discuss the external audit work in terms of defining the scope, audit plan, observations, etc. to obtain maximum assurance and avoid duplication of audit efforts.
  • Follow up with operations officials to verify the status of implementation work, update the follow-up schedule based on the results of the follow-up work.
  • Prepare and prepare audit and follow-up work reports for review by the Director of the Internal Audit Office.
  • Ensure compliance with the Internal Audit Methodology, Internal Audit Charter.
  • Follow relevant administrative policies and standard operating procedures so that work is conducted efficiently.
  • Ensure adherence to the rules, standards, policies and procedures of the Authority, laws and regulations followed in the UAE and other regulatory documents such as the Internal Audit Charter (at the manual level).
  • Contribute to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of processes, systems and practices taking into account “international best practices”, improving business processes, reducing costs and improving productivity.
  • Assist the Director of the Internal Audit Office in developing the training program and continuous development programs.
  • Preparing audit reports for review by the Director of the Internal Audit Office and sending the audit result.
  • Consulting projects via written reports.
  • Preparing audit and follow-up reports.
  • Maintaining adequate records of audit reports issued to management.
  • Preparing and presentation for the purposes of reviewing them to the Chairman of the Board of Directors or Director of the Internal Audit Office.
  • Preparing a report on conflicts of interest and submitting it to the Director of the Internal Audit Office.
  • Perform other job-related tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements of Chief Internal Auditor

  • Minimum:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Preffered: Master’s degree with 6-8 years of relevant work experience, preferably obtaining a specialized certificate (CPA, CIA, CMA, or CFE).
