Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Chest Physiotherapist to join them in Abu Dhabi. This person is responsible in assessing, treating, and care for patients with breathing disorders.

Duties of Chest Physiotherapist

  • Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities.
  • Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment.
  • Perform an initial assessment for the patient that was referred by the in charge Physician.
  • Assess for the recommended therapy that will be provided for the patient.
  • Set up and operate devices such as G5 vibrator, cough assist and CPT vest. Staff must have knowledge, able to manage and trouble shoot the device.
  • Aware with all CPT techniques that aimed to dislodge secretions and to facilitate their transport in and removal from the airways.
  • Able to perform Incentive spirometry if necessary.
  • Improve gas exchange and oxygenation by enhancing alveolar ventilation, augmenting ventilation/perfusion matching, and redistributing body fluid on a gravitational basis.
  • Discuss and explain the patient and family of disease process, expectations, goals, and understanding.
  • Work as part of a team of physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to manage patient care.
  • Promote and improve independence in airway clearance, collapse lungs, rate of decannulations and improve quality of life.
  • Monitor patient’s physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, chemistry changes, and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur.
  • Inspect, clean, test and maintain chest physiotherapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently, ordering repairs when necessary.
  • Responsible in a close loop communication with the Biomedical and SCM Department for maintaining the equipment in a functional state, calibration of equipment and sufficient medical supplies.

Qualification & Experience

Following is the eligibility criteria for that role of Chest Physiotherapist at SRH:

  • Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy.
  • 2-3 years of experience.
  • Experience in chest physiotherapy.
