Responsibilities of CCTV Operator
- Monitor live CCTV feeds and video recordings to observe and identify security breaches, suspicious activities on the premises.
- Conduct routine patrols of designated areas using CCTV cameras. Zooming in and out and adjusting camera angles as needed to ensure optimal coverage and visibility.
- Alert security personnel and relevant authorities in the event of security incidents, emergencies, or breaches of protocol. Provide timely and accurate information to facilitate response and resolution.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of security events, including incident reports, shift summaries, and camera malfunction reports. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Operate and troubleshoot CCTV equipment, software, and systems to ensure uninterrupted surveillance and optimal performance, and report any technical issues or maintenance requirements to the appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with security team members, supervisors, and law enforcement agencies to coordinate security measures, investigations, and follow-up actions as necessary.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with security policies, access control procedures, and regulatory requirements to protect assets and mitigate risks to personnel and property.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information obtained through surveillance activities and adhere to ethical and legal standards governing surveillance operations.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in surveillance and security management to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
- Participate in training programs, drills, and exercises to enhance skills, knowledge, and readiness to respond to security threats and emergencies.
Requirements of CCTV Operator
- High school diploma or equivalent additional training or certification in surveillance, security operations, or related fields is preferred.
- Valid security license or certification as required by state or local regulations.
- Proven experience of 1-2 years as a CCTV operator, security guard, or in a similar role, with demonstrated proficiency in operating surveillance equipment and monitoring systems.
Skills and knowledge desired
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness, with the ability to identify and assess security risks and respond effectively to changing circumstances.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely and collaborate with team members and external stakeholders.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, make sound decisions, and follow established protocols and procedures in emergency situations.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing surveillance and privacy rights, and commitment to upholding ethical and legal standards.
- Proficiency in using CCTV software, video management systems (VMS), and other security technology. The ability to troubleshoot technical issues and perform basic maintenance tasks.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, sit, and monitor screens for extended periods. Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
