Role of CAD Draftsman

Perform difficult drafting assignments requiring a thorough knowledge of drafting standards, practices, and techniques.

Duties as CAD Draftsman

• Prepare engineering drawings comprised of basic arrangements, layouts, from general engineering and design information.
• Main areas of expertise include marine structures (shipyards, general cargo, marinas), coastal structures (revetments, shore protection works and beaches), infrastructure works (bridges, pavements and services).
• Drafting and detailing reinforced concrete structures and steel structures which include offshore structures, crane foundation, piers, pipe supports, catwalks, piles, foundations, retaining walls and drainage channels.
• Preparation of concept/ detailed design drawings for various marine structures like piles, pile cap, precast shells, precast pier segments, quay wall blocks, precast units and steel structures for shore protection works.
• Check layout and drawings for accuracy, relationship of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the whole drawing.
• Using CAD, draw and letter charts and diagrams for the presentation of various statistical data; ensure standard presentation.
• Liaise with Engineers.
• Keep up-to-date with CAD development & software. Prepare and administer as-built drawings.

Qualification & Experience

• 2 Years Diploma (or equivalent) in any relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years of related experience.

Knowledge & Skills

• LPC literacy.
• A working knowledge of CAD.
• A working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments.
• Excellent organizational skills.
