Job Description
Buyer (Delicatessen) in Everyday Goods Food Retail at GMG will be responsible for procuring and managing delicatessen ensuring quality, competitiveness, and supplier relationships to meet business goals. The role involves analyzing market trends, maintaining supplier partnerships, and optimizing product offerings while aligning with the company’s sales, margin, and inventory objectives. This is an Intermediate level full time role. For this position salary ranges from 5000-10000 AED, which may be slightly negotiable during the interview process.
Responsibilities of Buyer
- Effectively source fresh products, negotiate contracts, and develop long-term supplier relationships.
- Stay updated on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitive pricing.
- Ensure the highest quality standards in product selection, delivery, and storage.
- Achieve margin targets through effective cost management and inventory optimization.
- Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing, quality, and terms.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for fresh food categories.
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer preferences to optimize product assortment.
- Manage budgets for the fresh food category.
- Drive profitability by controlling costs, minimizing wastage, and improving inventory turnover.
- Conduct regular price comparisons and ensure competitive pricing strategies.
- Work closely with quality assurance teams to maintain product standards.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct periodic site visits to suppliers to verify quality standards.
- Partner with marketing teams to plan promotional activities and campaigns.
- Collaborate with store managers and logistics teams to ensure seamless product delivery and placement.
- Provide training and guidance to store staff on product knowledge and handling procedures.
Requirements for Role of Buyer
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related discipline.
- 2 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or procurement.
Skills And Knowledge Desired
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and category management software.
- Knowledge of fresh food sourcing, seasonal trends, and shelf-life management.
- Understanding of food safety standards and regulations.
- Inventory management and demand forecasting expertise.
