Biomedical Engineer University Hospital Sharjah

University Hospital Sharjah is currently seeking an experienced Biomedical Engineer to join their dynamic team. The incumbent as member of the team is to apply skills and knowledge to operate and maintain medical equipment and clinical patient support biomedical systems. He / she will meet statutory compliance and ensure a safe hospital environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities of Biomedical Engineer

• Under the direction of the Biomedical Engineering Department Head, Biomedical Engineer is employed to maintain all medical equipment and patient support systems.
• Ensure that clinical equipments are always at peak efficiency and remain available for the purposes of providing healthcare services.
• Reports to the Biomedical Engineering Department Head exceptional delays or issues that impact on the availability of services to the clinical departments.
• Responsible to take part in putting on record all reports on installation, quality check, preventive and corrective maintenance and calibration of the equipment and ensure entries to the CMMS are updated.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports related to progress, delays, completed and issues on corrective and preventive maintenance of the equipments.
• Coordintate and supervise on-site medical service contractors to ensure quality of work and performances.
• Ensure all the biomedical clinical equipment and patient care systems are in god working condition for use/operation to the satisfaction of the hospital customers/patients.
• Participate in the technical evaluation of proposed equipment for procurement and make comparison of quality between product to product as required.
• Participates in all aspects of the International Accreditation program to assist UHS attain and maintain international accreditation standards.
• Participates in commissioning assigned areas and associated Clinical areas.
• Works any shift as per the duty roster of Biomedical Engineering.
• Actively participates in upholding and promoting the vision and culture of University Hospital – Sharjah (UHS)
• Complies with all UHS policies and procedures and fire regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

Following is the eligibility criteria for the role of Biomedical Engineer at UHS:

• BS in Biomedical Engineering degree or equivalent obtained from a recognized electronic/electrical engineering university.
• Member of engineering society or institution added qualification.
• Must have 7-10 years experience in medical equipment operations and maintenance management.

Knowledge & Skills

• Must have advanced electronic training and familiarity with applicable regulatory and inspection requirements.
• Factory training on a range of major medical equipment.
• Proven supervisory, interpersonal skills and leadership in motivating the team.
• Excellent communication written and verbal with good presentation skill.
• Ability to work under pressure to achieve results against target.
• Well knowledgeable in computer systems, electronic, electrical and mechanical engineering.
