Job Description

Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL) is presently hiring qualified and skilled candidate for the job role a Base Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, leading, and managing the overall business activities at the base, as well as maintenance activities/critical resources of the military aircrafts, to ensure the delivery of effective and timely aircraft maintenance and repair services to customers, and the availability of assets and equipment’s to achieve the maximum utilization impacting customer delivery.

Duties of Base Manager

  • In conjunction with and as required by executive management, contributes to the formulation and implementation of departmental strategy in line with GAL’s vision and mission, and validate the plan with the Engineers on ground.
  • Develops the non-aviation strategy for the base and strategic relationships with the base commanders and generals in GHQ (i.e Air Support Commander).
  • Ensures that strategy is translated into annual operational business plans for the organization and that performance is monitored and managed to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Reviews and monitors plans against the operation business plan and understands issues (if any).
  • Develops and implements contingency plans for continued operations, crash recovery, and crisis management.
  • Participates and delivers standard operations across GAL.
  • Leads and directs the implementation, scheduling and coordination of the maintenance process across the airbase.
  • Collaborates with the Planning department to ensure processes becomes standardized across all platforms for both planning and Production control and across all bases within GAL (CONOPS).
  • Leads and manages the resolution of the recurring maintenance problems. an
  • Provides preventive measures to extend highly efficient, effective and quality service to customers aircrafts at the Airbase.
  • Oversees and leads the ongoing review of the physical condition of the Airbase operational assets.
  • Works with departments like GSE, Facilities, Calibration and Crash recovery to ensure that all assets are accounted for.
  • Understands contractual terms and conditions and highlights/escalates any requirement variances observed.
  • Manages department’s staff and teams by planning their utilization, communication, overseeing their performance, recruitment, training and development to ensure high levels of engagement and competence.
  • Provides on the job training & constructive feedback to subordinates.

What You’ll Do More?

  • Collaborates with the Technical Training Department to ensure relevant and timely yearly deliverables in coordination with the customers.
  • Develops base specific inductions plans as needed, as well as support infrastructure for the associates including medical and other support plans.
  • Monitors compliance, recommends improvements to departmental policy, and directs the implementation of procedures and controls.
  • Recommends and negotiates/agrees on the budget and monitors financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of forecasted costs and revenues; areas of underperformance are identified and opportunities to improve performance are capitalized upon.
  • Works with the Planning department to standardize and control the resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Reviews and manages the preparation and review of executive weekly/monthly reports on base related activities.
  • Leads and manages all audit related requirements, and tracks corrective actions to ensure closure of issues and strict compliance.
  • Enhances and enforces the training and use of cMRO and Oracle modules within the base operations.
  • Ensures the operations and program team maintain aircraft that are airworthy in accordance with GHQ policy and OEM technical standards.
  • Leads and manages the development and implementation of programs and business processes which will facilitate identification and consistent application of maintenance best practice as well as the realization of synergies across maintenance operations at the Airbase.
  • Develops plans that deliver performance with year on year savings for operation(s).
  • Oversees improvements to departmental policies and directs the implementation of procedures and controls.

Eligibility Requirements for Role of Base Manager

The requirements for job role of Base Manager are as under:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or any related discipline.
  • Postgraduate degree/ related certification would be an added advantage.
  • Technical Certificate is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 – 15 years of related experience.
  • At least 5 years heading a similar role of managing base/ department handover for a military aviation maintenance program.
