Associate Portfolio Management at HSBC UAE is responsible to manage and support the development and implementation of investment strategies for clients, ensuring alignment with their financial objectives and risk profiles.

Responsibilities of Associate Portfolio Management

  • Support front line asset origination teams through the CAC and Sub-CAC process to optimize new business proposals using ORC, Omnia, Portfolio Visualization Dashboard (PVD) and other systems.
  • Review Local Entity Review (LER), Group Annual Review (GARs) and Group Credit Risk Capacity (GCRC) requests with appropriate recommendation.
  • Coordinate with RMs, Market Securities Services (MSS), Global Execution on secondary activity including risk distribution, CDS purchase etc.
  • Form part of the WWM Committee. Be responsible for understanding and challenging risk, encouraging a view on trajectory, and ensuring a fluid process through WWM.
  • Periodic review of all names flagged by Radar for MENAT clients.
  • Support WPM and broader business efforts to improve portfolio constraints, data and transparency.
  • Assist in compiling and reviewing regional portfolio data for sector and company analysis and undertake any ad-hoc projects around risk mitigants, RWA reductions, portfolio/sector reviews, transition risk etc.
  • Take ownership for implementing regulatory and policy change, involving updating policy, communications, and training to originating teams.
  • Take part on the MENAT Capital & Liquidity forecasting processes, monitoring and preparing reports as required with focus on RWA and liquidity constraints.
  • Establish parameters for the periodic Low Return client exercise, identifying clients and Client Plans for review with strategies to mitigate as discussed with the Business.
  • Oversight of logistics around multiple regular committees / forums and associated admin. Assisting in the management and logistics around multiple regular committees/forums rooms, conference calls, packs, minutes, follow up etc.
  • Monitor and analyze portfolio risk and recommend strategy.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with issues raised by regulators.

Requirements of Associate Portfolio Management

  • Graduation Degree is a must to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit.
  • Minimum of 4 years of front line experience in a commercial banking environment is an advantage, with an understanding of core banking products and an aptitude for credit analysis.

Skills and Knowledge Desired

  • Understanding of core banking products preferred including Portfolio Management tools.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work with colleagues from across the first and second lines of defense.
  • Literate and articulate with strong analytical and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • IT literate with an ability to pick up new systems quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, multitasking ability with an eye for detail and logical context.
  • Work as part of a team, providing timely support to Senior Executives.
  • Highly motivated and proactive, eager to accept new challenges and having an ability to work under pressure.
