Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is seeking an Associate Administrator – Operations Management in Abu Dhabi. This role opening was announced by the hospital on December 22, 2023 under the requisition ID 185. The Associate Administrators are accountable for providing direction, oversight, leadership development and administrative support to their assigned teams and committees Associate Administrators are responsible for strategic and operational planning and fiscal management, to achieve top decile quality and service performance. In collaboration with the physician and administrative leaders throughout SSMC, the individuals in this position will enhance relationships and ensure the successful implementation of strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities of Associate Administrator

  • Establishes a comprehensive, clear vision and compelling goals with effective strategies to achieve them.
  • Develops an effective strategic and operational plan to advance the institutional goals.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of institutional strategic and operational plans.
  • Builds alliances to achieve Mayo’s and SSMC’s strategic goals and increase efficiency across the organization.
  • Assigns accountability, coordinates efforts, and oversees follow-through to ensure results are achieved.
  • Determines appropriate input; presents ideas and proposals persuasively and gains support and commitment to collective action.
  • Identifies, attracts and develops the best available talent in the field.
  • Builds effective teams and contributes to and fosters teamwork across SSMC.
  • Creates an environment that fosters open communication and continuous learning.
  • Maintains a contemporary knowledge and understanding of leadership and management trends.
  • Manages and develop trends in the health care industry and adjusts business plans accordingly.
  • Oversees the design and implementation of effective business processes and management systems to improve the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Develops and monitors departmental budget, identifying improvements in cost-effectiveness.
  • Determines and resolves problems through analysis of issues, creation of options, data collection, assessment of options, and contingency planning.
  • Delegates work with colleagues to appropriately involve others and ensure effective execution of strategies and operational initiatives.
  • Ensures that systems are in place to meet all regulatory and accreditation standards (i.e. JCI, CLIA).
  • Assures services are properly documented, billed, and appropriated revenues are recognized.
  • Demonstrates that all departmental work areas are compliant with internal policies and procedures.
  • Selects and assigns administrative to support institutional priorities and developmental needs of administrative staff.
  • Identifies and promotes opportunities for practice improvements.
  • Leads efforts to optimize patient, staff and customer satisfaction.
  • Facilitates and continually searches for new ways to serve patients and customers better, working collaboratively and sharing resources with others.

What you’ll do as Associate Administrator

  • Ensure and be accountable for providing solutions to the problems and being responsible for your actions and decisions. This means taking individual ownership.
  • Establish a clear strategy, budget and annual plan for the facility aligned with the strategic plan of SSMC corporate and ensuring the key result areas as defined in the plan are met.
  • Ensure all documents are in the appropriate format.
  • Ensures the highest standards of the patient care.
  • Make well-reasoned timely decisions based on practical experience and sound logic.
  • Actively participate in recruitment efforts including identification and selection of successful administrative personnel.
  • Create and implement plans for the career development of administrative staff including appropriate coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
  • Lead and manage change through the use of analytical skills and the ability to motivate others through the change experience.
  • Conduct self with integrity, professional ethics and fairness; follow through on commitments.
  • Determine and realistically appraise own strengths and weaknesses and invite feedback, accepting responsibility for own mistakes and limitations.

Education & Experience

Following is the eligibility criteria for the role of Associate Administrator – Operations Management at SSMC:

  • Must possess a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration or comparable discipline.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a significant leadership role, preferably involving clinic, hospital and/or surgical services operational activities.
