Assistant Technician Serco UAE

Serco is actively looking to hire skilled candidate for the role of an Assistant Technician in Dubai. The incumbent will be responsible to carry out preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on structured fibre optic & copper cabling systems individually or as part of a technical team, within the business designated area, whilst ensuring minimal disruption to the business operations.

Responsibilities of Assistant Technician

• Ability to conform to all general & technical safety requirements at all times to ensure the health, safety & welfare of self & others at work.
• Any other work as assigned by structured cabling supervisor/duty engineer to achieve the purpose.
• Can read, interpret & describe functionality of drawings (circuit and wiring diagrams / schematic & layout drawings) irrespective of manufacturer.
• Can correctly setup and use electrical test equipment and interpret the test results. Equipment may include Digital Multi Meter, Fibre Optic Power Meter, Fibre optic light source, Fibre multi meter, Optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) and Fibre fault locator.
• Knowledge in the use & interpretation of local and international electrical standards and regulations.
• Assets exposure (Direct) major assets below but not limited to Fibre Optic Racks, Patch panels, SM/MM fibre optic splicing enclosures, Cat 6 Cabling, Transceivers and converters, Fibre optic test equipment and Tools.
• Delivers good customer services and seeks to identify and meet needs, taking swift action to resolve issues with integrity. Always alert to the customer’s point of view and demonstrates a sense of urgency
• Sets clear team objectives and establishes courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed on time.
• Engages and influences others by using a wide range of communication methods and styles.

Qualification Requirements for Role of Assistant Technician

• High school certificate
• IOSH working safely certificate or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years experience within structured cabling environment or similar.
• Airport experience is considered as added advantage for this position

Knowledge & Skills Desired

• Good level of spoken and written English.
• Ability to communicate with staff, stakeholders and customers in oral and written English.
• Working knowledge in MS office (word/ excel / power point).
