Job Purpose of An Assistant Technician Orthotist & Prosthetist
Assists in the production, repair and maintenance of orthotic and prosthetic devices according to specifications and under guidance of the Technician and the Orthotist/Prosthetist.
Your Duties As An Assistant Technician Orthotist & Prosthetist
- Provide assistance in the manufacture of orthosis and prostheses devices.
- Provide support with minor repair of Orthotic appliances.
- Manufacture shoe inserts in leather.
- Support with the manufacturing of minor components of appliances.
- Non-bespoke stock or patient’s own footwear is modified according to guidelines.
- Assistance in molding thermal plastics and preparation of plaster casts.
- Provide overall support with the maintenance of machinery and cleanliness and safety of the working environment.
Who Can Apply?
Qualification
- Grade 12 qualification with relevant post school qualification as an advantage.
Experience
- Completed apprenticeship recognized within the orthotic and prosthetic field will be an advantage.
- Relevant experience within a healthcare setting.
Skills Desired
- Verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft).
- Client service and related management principles.
- Stock management processes.
