The University of Sharjah is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor Linguistics to commence his/her duties in August 2024. The position requires a PhD holder in Linguistics from a recognized and an accredited university by the Ministry of Education/UAE. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to teach undergraduate courses and college/university English language requirements. The candidate should also have a solid record of high-quality publications relevant to his/her qualification.

Duties of Assistant Professor linguistics

• Teaching 12 credit hours to undergraduate and graduate students per semester.
• Contributing to the university core curriculum.
• Supervising MA and PhD theses.
• Contributing to various committees at the department, college, and university levels.
• Contributing to the research profile of the department & college through innovative and interdisciplinary research publications.
• Contributing or leading activities related to program accreditation and quality assurance.
• Contributing to any other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of the Department.​

Job Requirements

The requirements for the job of Assistant Professor Linguistics are as under:

• PhD in Linguistics from a native English speaking country.
• A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience after obtaining the PhD.
• Evidence of teaching experience at a Full Professor rank from a recognized and an accredited university.
