The Department of Biotechnology in the School of Arts and Sciences at the American University of Ras al Khaimah (AURAK) is seeking to hire a full time faculty member at the Assistant Professor Biotechnology rank starting Fall 2024 (mid August). Candidates for this position must hold a Ph.D. in Biotechnology or other related discipline. Prior successful teaching experience at the university level employing high impact educational practices to promote active learning by students and experience in working effectively with globally diverse student populations are expected.

Responsibilities of Assistant Professor Biotechnology

  • Teaching undergraduate courses related to Biotechnology.
  • Developing or continuing to advance an internationally recognized research program.
  • Participating in Department, School of Arts and Sciences, and University committees.
  • Participating in outreach activities, such as workshops and seminars.

Job Requirements of Assistant Professor Biotechnology

  • A doctoral degree in Biotechnology or any other related discipline, from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Minimum 3 year experience in similar role.
  • Experience in working effectively with a diverse student population.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Effective oral and written English communication skills.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching, including the use of high impact educational practices at the university level, and excellence in scholarship activities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines.
