The British School Al Khubairat is looking to employ a Full Time Assistant Headteacher for Digital Pedagogy, Safety and Innovation to commencing 1st September 2024. This role will develop School’s digital strategy in consultation with all major stakeholders, ensuring focus on effective, evidence driven recommendations for the integration of digital technologies, activities and contexts into classroom. Also line manage the Digital Business Manager, who is responsible for IT infrastructure, the maintenance of the MIS, academic systems, co-curricular systems and their integration. The successful candidate will lead an effective Digital Strategy Group, which includes Secondary and Primary Digital Leads and members of the IT department, to decide upon and advice Senior Team on digital direction of travel for the school.

Responsibilities of Assistant Headteacher Digital Pedagogy

  • Lead the School’s Digital Strategy Group to empower the effective use of digital led technology.
  • Developing IT Strategy and Policies.
  • Developing further the Digital Safeguarding and acceptable use Policies & Procedures.
  • Working with local authorities within the UAE to ensure appropriate systems and protocols are upheld.
  • Lead a Digital Ambassador Student Group, who help develop further digital pathway for the school.
  • Advising the Senior Leadership Team regarding all digital matters including:
    • Hardware.
    • Software.
    • Educational technology.
    • Digital pedagogy.
    • Digital Privacy, Security, and Safeguarding of Students.
  • Consulting with all major stakeholders within the organisation including Heads of Department, Students and parents to ensure their digital needs are understood and met.
  • Supporting the teaching and learning process by:
    • Work with Deputy Heads and Digital Leaders to understand the School9s educational aims and philosophy.
    • Devise and implement a whole school Digital Learning Strategy to enable delivery of School’s educational aims and philosophy
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are in place to educate Students about life in a digital age, including digital footprint and digital safety.
  • Work with the IT Manager to ensure a suitable infrastructure is in place to deliver and develop effectively the use of IT across the School.
  • Ensuring teachers and students have access to reliable, efficient and up to date IT facilities in their classrooms, library, specialist rooms and Sixth Form.
  • Lead the Digital Strategy Group to formulate the key directions for Teaching for Learning across the school.
  • Arranging for appropriate whole School training when required in collaboration with Deputy Heads and Digital Leaders.
  • Develop the holistic impact of digital technology and knowledge within and outside of the classroom to help develop Students both learning and pastorally.
  • Produce the data required for inspections for BSO & Irtiqa, any other inspection regime the school decides to work with.

Job Requirements of Assistant Headteacher Digital Pedagogy

  • The candidate will be a UK qualified teacher with a PGCE qualification.
  • Further education qualification (NPQ or Masters) are preferable.
  • Safeguarding qualification are desirable but not essential.
  • At least 3 years leadership experience (preferably, not essentially, digital emphasis) in an school environment that includes supervising teams as well as collaborating with academic leads.
  • Experience in setting clear metrics for success and achieving them.

  • The ability to offer innovative solutions to seemingly intractable problems.
