About the Role
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics at American University in Dubai will teach a broad range of economics courses with a particular focus on applied Microeconomics within the School of Business. Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate significant potential for teaching effectiveness at both undergraduate and MBA levels, alongside an active scholarship record. Moreover, the professor will engage in student advising, curriculum development, and service to the department, school, and community.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate and MBA-level courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and applied economic analysis
- Develop and update course curricula and assessment materials aligned with AACSB accreditation standards
- Maintain an active research agenda and publish high-quality work in peer-reviewed economics journals
- Support student academic advising and career mentorship in economics and related fields
- Participate in department meetings, committees, and academic governance activities
- Contribute to program assessment, accreditation reviews, and continuous improvement processes
- Develop connections with government agencies, policy institutes, and economic research organizations
- Promote applied research that addresses regional economic issues and policy challenges
- Lead or support economics seminars, guest lectures, and student research initiatives
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Economics or a related field from a Western accredited institution at the time of appointment
- Ability to teach a broad range of economics courses, particularly in applied Microeconomics
- High-quality publications in peer-reviewed outlets commensurate with rank
- Excellent English written and oral communication skills
- Industry experience is preferred and will be given priority consideration
- Ability to work effectively in a team and contribute to a collaborative academic environment
