Assistant/Associate Professor Bioinformatics & Computational Medicine, University of Sharjah

The College of Medicine, University of Sharjah (UoS) is seeking to hire highly motivated faculty at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in Bioinformatics & Computational Medicine. The aspiring candidate should be specialized in area of genomics/system biology/bioinformatics, preferably with expertise in other OMICS areas, to lead a bioinformatics facility. The candidate will also support the need of several research groups at the Research institute for Medical and Health Sciences (RIMHS) for bioinformatics and system biology analytical approaches. Educate students and participate in research activities in the field of Bioinformatics and Computational Medicine

Duties of Assistant/Associate Professor Bioinformatics & Computational Medicine

• Teach bioinformatics courses to graduate students.
• Leads a bioinformatics unit within RIMHS.
• Coordinate efforts on bioinformatics and artificial intelligence research and integrate data from different modalities to uncover the molecular and genetic causes of various diseases.
• Coordinate the effort of several research groups to establish joint interdisciplinary projects.
• Acquire technologies related to bioinformatics to support the unit service.
• Promote the RIMHS mission and vision in the community and internationally.
• Establish national, regional & international collaborations with bioinformatics centers worldwide.
• Attract community based, national and international funding and support for the unit.
• Organize regular training activities related to bioinformatics.
• Ensure training of junior faculty/postdocs and graduate students in areas related to bioinformatics.

Qualification & Experience

• Have a Ph.D. from a recognized university in a related field.
• 5 years of experience in bioinformatics particularly genomics, epigenome editing & other bioinformatics fields.
• Previous experience in establishing research units and core facility.
• Experience in coding.
• Strong track record of peer reviewed publications and evidence of leadership (desired). ​

Skills & Knowledge Desired

• Having wide network of collaborators at the national, regional and international levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
