Assistant/Associate Professor Chemical Engineering AURAK

The Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department at American Univeristy of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in Chemical Engineering program to begin Fall 2024. The role holder will be responsible to engage in active research within his/her areas of expertise, integrate impactful educational methods, mentor undergraduate students, and contribute to the growth of the department, university, and local community. The candidate should have credentials to teach undergraduate courses in the field of Chemical Engineering including Process and Plant Design, Process Integration and Optimization, Advance Simulation, Data Science in Chemical Engineering and Safety and Environment Impact. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of teaching introductory level courses and supervise senior design projects.

Duties of Assistant/Associate Professor

• Teaching Undergraduate Courses.
• Participating in departmental, school and university committees and activities.
• Advising and mentoring students.
• Participating in outreach activities such as continuing education workshops, conferences and seminars.
• Obtaining sponsored funding and involve in research and scholarly activities.

Job Requirements of Assistant/Associate Professor

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, specializing in process and plant design, optimization, integration, process safety & environmental impact from an accredited institution of higher education.
• University teaching experience.
• Minimum 2 year experience in similar role.
• Experience in working effectively with a diverse student population.
• Experience with professional accreditation requirements.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

• Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly activities including the use of high impact educational practices.
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines.

Note: Preference will be given to candidates possessing teaching experience & qualifications in petroleum engineering courses.
