About the Role

The Academic Support Assistant: Cover and Examinations is a dual-purpose position that supports the academic function of the school throughout the academic year. Furthermore, the postholder provides effective classroom supervision during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment in accordance with school policies. During key examination periods, including internal and public examinations such as iGCSEs, GCSEs, and A Levels, the postholder supports the Examinations Office in the planning and delivery of all assessments. Moreover, the role requires strict adherence to examination regulations, processes, and timescales at all times.

Key Responsibilities for Academic Support Assistant at Dubai College Dubai

• Supervise classrooms effectively during the short-term absence of teaching staff
• Maintain a safe, calm, and purposeful learning environment during cover lessons
• Support the Examinations Office with the planning and delivery of internal assessments
• Assist with the coordination and administration of public examinations (iGCSE, GCSE, A Level)
• Ensure full compliance with examination board regulations and school procedures
• Manage examination stationery, scripts, and materials with accuracy and care
• Monitor and support students during examination sessions in line with regulations
• Coordinate the setup and organisation of examination venues and seating plans
• Liaise with the Examinations Officer, teaching staff, and school administration as required
• Contribute to accurate record-keeping and administrative reporting for both cover and exams

Requirements

• Previous experience in an administrative, supervisory, or education support role
• Strong understanding of examination regulations and assessment procedures (preferred)
• Excellent organisational skills with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
• Calm, professional manner with the ability to manage students effectively
• Good IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work flexibly across the academic year including during examination periods
• DBS check or equivalent international police clearance required
