Design Engineer, AECOM Dubai UAE

AECOM UAE is currently looking for suitably qualified & experienced candidate for job role of a Senior Design Engineer for bridge structures. The successful candidate will work to design and develop bridge structures in accordance with AASHTO LRFD, Eurocodes, AREMA and or any other international design code as applicable. Job Purpose of A Senior Design Engineer

• Responsible to produce design information.
• Coordinate with the CAD/BIM technicians for the drawings production and with the relevant design disciplines.
• Provide technical reviews and quality management, share technical expertise and experience with others in the company via internal technical communication and presentations.

Job Duties of A Senior Design Engineer

• Development of feasibility and design concepts.
• Produce detailed design information including calculations and design sketches for bridges, underpasses, rail structures and other infrastructure structures.
• Provide technical lead on design tasks.
• Liaise with CAD/BIM technician for production of drawings.
• Responsible to coordinate with the other disciplines to ensure there are no design gaps and provide fully coordinated design deliverables.
• Perform quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings following policies and procedures.
• Having reasonable knowledge about life cycle cost analysis of underground structures.
• Plays active role in technical development of the team.
• Able to monitor and track the budget for specific tasks within the project.
• Plan and carry out site inspections of structures, if required.
• Carry out risk assessments and provision of design information for Health and Safety.
• Inspection, assessment and strengthening of road/rail bridges and other structures.
• Report writing and production of technical reports and documents.
• Championing innovation and demonstrating technical leadership to small size team.
• Liaises with authorities to obtain permits and approvals and to discuss technical advances.
• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical effort/man hours for projects.
• Assists with proposals and participates in the development of bids and technical write up for proposals.

Qualification & Experience

• Bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Bridge, Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (MIStructE or C.Eng. from UK) or Professional Engineer (PE from USA) is a plus.
• PMP is a plus.
• Mnimum 10 plus years of experience in bridges.
• UAE/Middle East projects experience is a plus.
• Relevant experience in inspection and assessment of bridges and other transportation structures.
• Must have worked at a similar level on major civil infrastructure projects.

Skills Required

• Supports colleagues, seen as a team leader.
• Verifies that work carried out is correct as per client requirement.
• Knowledge sharing to junior Technicians.
• Experience with various software packages for analysis and design such as Midas, STAAD, SAP, RM Bridges.
