I have trained as a scholar of population studies, then broadened my research capacity in global public health in the last sixteen years. I have more than 18 years of teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate level. I received my PhD and JSPS postdoctoral fellowship in public health from Tokyo Medical and Dental University in Japan after completing my master’s degrees in population science and human resource development at the University of Rajshahi and in public health at the University of Tokyo in Japan. I have now published more than 150 scholarly papers in international peer-reviewed journals. I already had published study results related Public Health issues by using large-scale databases such as Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) and through utilizing primary data and published our research findings in the Lancet, Lancet Global health, Lancet Public health, American Journal of Preventive Medicine, Nature Scientific Reports, Journal of Diabetes and its Complications, Journal of Royal Society of Medicine, etc. My research excellence is acknowledged with the Bangladesh University Grant Commission Award for excellent research. I have completed several national and international funded research projects, such as the WHO research fund, Tobacco control fund by John Hopkins University, USAID fund, Sumitomo Fund Japan etc. During my post-Doc fellowship period, I designed and conducted a firsthand cohort study of the Bangladesh Diabetes study. I also did several school-based interventions for improving the health of school children. At both the Rajshahi University and Tokyo Medical and Dental University, I worked as a mentor of students from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Japan, Lao PDR, Mongolia, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Thailand, and Vietnam.
