Job Description

American University in the Emirates is looking for an efficient IT Technical Support Engineer. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of the university’s IT infrastructure, offering comprehensive support across various systems and technologies. The IT Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving technical issues, providing vital support to faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities of IT Technical Support Engineer

  • Install and configure workstations, peripherals, and software.
  • Facilitate new user IT onboarding.
  • Offer helpdesk support, ensuring user satisfaction.
  • Respond to help desk tickets and escalate complex issues.
  • Provide technical support for university events.
  • Analyze trends from call logs to identify underlying problems.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues across multiple OS environments.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file servers.
  • Handle CCTV system maintenance, including NVR and DVR setups.
  • Implement and manage security systems like Trilex, CrowdStrike, Cloudflare, and Microsoft Defender.
  • Understand and apply concepts of high availability, business continuity, and system backup.
  • Provide Microsoft 365 support and issue resolution.
  • Manage IT equipment inventory and perform upgrades.
  • Maintain knowledge of educational technology trends.
  • Diagnose and resolve network, software, and hardware compatibility issues.

Job Requirements of IT Technical Support Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certification highly preferred in CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library).
  • 0 to 2 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in network and system troubleshooting.

Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
