Job Description

The role of MoE Curriculum Director at is central in achieving the vision of the school and should act as the champion of this vision. Ensuring that central messaging is understood, interpreted correctly and delivered in various formats to students, staff and parents are crucial. The Head of MoE Curriculum will work collaboratively with the schools team of Directors and Heads of School to ensure the MoE curriculum fosters a love of learning in students and provides exceptionally high quality experiences inside and outside of the classroom. The National Identity program within the school reflects the ambitious aims of the school. Attainment within MoE subjects exceeds national expectations and students make exceptional progress in all lessons. Promote culture and values associated with the MoE curriculum across the wider school community.

Responsibilities of MoE Curriculum Director

The primary responsibilities of this role are:

  • Monitoring the quality of teaching and learning across the Whole School for MoE curriculum subjects.
  • Management of academic transitions between Pre Prep, Prep, and Senior Schools.
  • Academic staffing of MoE curriculum subjects. (e.g. overview of School’s needs and staff requirements, induction of new staff, planning and delivering INSET and Teaching Staff Meetings, helping to lead Teaching Staff Appraisal).
  • Wider management of staffing and subjects MoE curriculum subjects. (e.g. timetabling, daily deployment/management of teaching staff, arranging cover, formal and, where appropriate, informal staff disciplinary issues).
  • To work in close partnership with the Heads of School and Assistant Heads ensuring that nothing falls between the gaps.
  • Active involvement in the whole school academic structures and development (e.g. AVG).
  • Working closely with the Learning Support Department.
  • Membership of the SLT and AVG.
  • Working in partnership with key colleagues in the Pre Prep, Prep, and Senior Schools.
  • Report to the relevant Head of School on Appraisal and Probation status and coordinate key actions.
  • Implement methods to access the quality of T & L quality across MoE curriculum subjects.
  • Ensure the school is Academically compliant and where there are potential issue provide solutions for SLT approval.
  • Overseeing and implementing Heritage and Cultural events and co curricular opportunities for students.

Other responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with teaching and co curricular staff to embed practices that actively support student wellbeing.
  • Mentor staff and provide constructive and informed feedback to support, promote and acknowledge exceptional pastoral care.
  • Keep up to date with best practice.
  • Promote, present and support relevant professional learning opportunities for staff.
  • Submit professional/educational articles School and other external publications.
  • Present at Parent Evenings, Information Evenings, and School Assemblies, as required.
  • Develop relevant documentation including handbooks, course outlines, and scope and sequence documentation.
  • To monitor the keeping, confidentiality, and storage of records.
  • Assist with auditing and reviewing the broad range of policies across the Schools.
  • Attend other meetings and committees that enhance the performance and understanding of the role.

Job Requirements of MoE Curriculum Director

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or subject specialism with a PGCE or equivalent.
  • 5 to 8 years management experience.
  • Proven track record of excellence in an education setting.
  • Be able to provide a relevant and up to date police check.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • An excellent communicator and presenter, both in person and on paper.
  • Someone with the ability to listen, show diplomacy and understanding, but also take a firm line when required.

  • Able to anticipate problems and have the vision to suggest and implement solutions.
  • A good manager of people and resources.
  • Someone with a clear understanding of the professional flexibility required in Senior Leadership.
  • Arabic (Fluent).
  • English (Excellent English skills are preferred).
