Job Description

An exciting opportunity for the role of Fleet Performance Manager has been announced at Etihad Rail in Abu Dhabi. The role holder is primarily responsible for delivering a secure and dependable passenger service, with a specific focus on safety, engineering, maintenance, and asset management for Rolling Stock.

Responsibilities of Fleet Performance Manager

  • Manage fleet availability and reliability, implementing solutions to surpass contractual requirements.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with safety regulations, identifying and addressing safety-related defects, and effectively investigating and resolving open defects, service quality regime issues, customer feedback, and additional service regimes in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Furthermore, this position involves overseeing contractor performance against established targets and actively reviewing and implementing best practices to enhance Rolling Stock asset performance, optimizing service quality and asset value.
  • Ensuring a timely and in-depth review of the manufacturers and suppliers’ operations & maintenance documentation, strategies, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Ensure improvements or updates with agreed timeframes when needed.
  • Ensuring that the risk assessments, method statements, procedures, and associated documentation are issued prior to testing, trial running, and trial operations.
  • Participate in testing-commissioning and the trail run liaising with the associated team, paying specific attention to the quality of work.
  • Ensuring that the required engineering standards, asset maintenance plan, maintenance instructions, and safe systems of work documentation have been developed, reviewed, and approved as per the agreed plan and well before the commencement of train operations.
  • Carry out or review the training needs analysis for both in-house and outsourced staff.
  • Provide guidance for the Maintenance Management System (MMS) configuration and implementation, including the development of the asset hierarchies, attributes, data mapping, and workflow for incorporation into the MMS.
  • Ensuring periodical reviews of the contractor(s) or in-house maintenance procedures and processes in line with the O&M strategy and ensuring improvements or updates when needed.
  • Set up procedures and tools with internal and external stakeholders to effectively monitor the work that the contractors are delivering.

What you will do more?

  • Ensuring defects are promptly, safely, and cost-effectively resolved and that planned maintenance programmes are undertaken as per contract in accordance with legal and contractual obligations.
  • Identify areas of improvement related to safety, asset performance, and KPRs. Initiate the required improvement plans and ensure timely implementation.
  • Liaise closely with the safety and quality team to ensure carrying of audits and inspections in an organised, timely, and productive manner.
  • Perform Rail Incident Officer/Train Operations Liaison Officer duties as necessary.
  • Undertake technical audits and inspections of contractors to ensure compliance and the delivery of world-class maintenance. Provide recommendations to achieve the desired improvements.
  • Initiate improvement plans, including the introduction of new technologies and best practices for enhanced service delivery.
  • Review the contractor’s performance at the defined periodicity and in compliance with the contract.
  • Contribute to the asset maintenance and renewal plans in liaison with the respective internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise the day-to-day management of the Rolling Stock maintenance contractor(s).
  • In conjunction with the safety team, ensure the report and recording of all incidents, including near misses,to determine the root causes.
  • Monitor contactor(s)’ performance against set deliverables and KPRs.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Contracts Manager to support maintenance contract management, ensuring contractors meet performance and safety requirements.

Requirements of Fleet Performance Manager

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering (mechanical or similar).

Professional Qualifications

  • Professional qualification or certification from a related professional body, e.g., the Institution of Mechanical Engineering or others, is an advantage.

Specific Requirements

  • Out-of-hours attendance, exceptional duty, or travellings.
  • On-Call responsibility.

Experience:

  • 10 years or more of relevant, demonstrable industry experience, including managing contracts.

Skills and Abilities Desired

  • Knowledge of relevant specifications and standards.
  • Knowledge of condition-based maintenance (CBM) and predictive maintenance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Anticipation, analysis, identification, and problem-solving capacity.
