Job Description
SKMCA Women and Children Hospital is looking for a Consultant Pediatrics ICU/Critical Care to join the Pediatric Department. Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman (SKMCA) is a key healthcare provider for the Emirate of Ajman, an initiative by H.H The President under Ministry of Presidential Affairs. SKMCA is a medical facility comprising of 220+ beds. Four separate, yet inter-collaborative, hospital facilities make up the SKMCA multidisciplinary complex including Sheikh Khalifa Hospital Masfoot, Sheikh Khalifa Hospital – Women and Children, Sheikh Khalifa Hospital – General and Rashid Centre of Diabetes and Research.
Role of Consultant Pediatrics ICU/Critical Care
A Consultant Pediatrics ICU is responsible for supervising, directing and coordinating the activities of residents, nurses, assistants, therapists, and other medical staff involved in patient care of children.
Responsibilities of Consultant Pediatrics ICU/Critical Care
- Will be responsible for managing the assigned clinics as per the approved Rota by the Medical Director.
- To admit the patients under his/ her care whenever indicated within the limits of the approved and assigned privileges.
- Responsible for the initial assessment, investigation, analysis & interpretation of the clinical findings and test results, arriving at diagnosis, treatment, and re-assessment and follow- up of the patients.
- To prescribe, administer medication, therapy, and/or other appropriate care to treat or prevent further complication of the disease.
- Responsible for explaining procedures and discussing diagnostic results or prescribed treatments with the patients and/or with the authorized attendants.
What you’ll be doing
- Monitoring the patient’s condition and progress and reevaluate/ re-assessment and treat the patient accordingly.
- Referring the patient to other consultants/specialists when necessary, also consult, or provide consulting services to, other physicians whenever requested.
- Pay daily rounds to In-Patients and referred patients.
- Documenting and completing all medical record of the patients and update on the progress of the patient appropriately.
- To ensure that Islamic Values and Medical Ethics are respected and strictly observed.
- Responsible to be On-Call as per hospital policy.
- Attend the Code Blue, whenever applicable, and should be involved in all other emergency codes of the hospital.
Qualification & Experience
- The ideal candidates should have qualification from an American Board/CCT/CCST/ in Pediatric Critical Care/Intensive Care.
- Candidate need to provide well documented experience within PICU and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience post Specialty Board as a Consultant.
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent clinical and technical skills in PICU environment.
- Knowledge of International Healthcare Standards.
- Computer Literacy including MS Office Package.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
