Gems Modern Academy is seeking a dynamic and innovative MYP Design Teacher ( Product and Digital Design) to join their passionate team of educators. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of design principles and methodologies, as well as experience in guiding students through the IB MYP curriculum. Responsibilities of Design Teacher
- Teach MYP Design to middle school students, incorporating the IB framework and philosophy into lesson planning and delivery.
- Foster an environment where students engage in authentic design processes and apply critical thinking skills to real world challenges.
- Facilitate student led inquiry and exploration, guiding each student through the design cycle while promoting independent thinking and problem solving.
- Provide personalized support and feedback to students as they develop their design projects, ensuring growth and development in both technical skills and creative expression.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate design concepts across the curriculum and promote interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Stay updated on current trends and advancements in design education, continuously seeking professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices.
Job Requirements of Design Teacher
- Bachelor’s degree in Design.
- Minimum 2 year experience in similar role.
- Teaching certification/license in the relevant subject area.
- Previous experience teaching Design or similar courses, preferably within an IB context.
Skills & Knowledge Desired
- Strong understanding of design principles, processes, and tools, with the ability to effectively communicate these concepts to students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for mentoring and inspiring young learners.
