Job Description
A Sterile Preparation Manager at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is responsible for directing and managing the overall operations of the Sterile Processing area. This includes developing annual departmental strategic and operational plans, supervising staff and overseeing the support system. The role holder develops, reviews and maintains all quality processes, safety programs, customer service programs and sterilization monitoring programs.
Responsibilities of Sterile Preparation Manager
- Assures compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Leads and collaborates with other departmental managers on inter-departmental activities related to processing activities, consultations and training.
- Serves as an expert on sterilization systems to departments throughout CCAD.
- Performs or monitors personnel management functions, which includes interviewing and selecting candidates.
- Directs the performance management program and manages corrective action issues.
- Ensures the implementation and utilization of automated support systems that enhance sterile processing activities.
- Identifies and reports on key operational metrics.
- Promotes staff continuing education or certification preparation.
Role Requirements
Following is the eligibility criteria for the role of Sterile Preparation Manager at CCAD:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospital Administration or related field Qualification in operating room techniques.
- Registration as a member with a recognized sterile services institute Current national license.
- Master’s degree in healthcare/management /administration field is preferable.
- Minimum of six (6) years experience in sterile service (CSSD) field in a healthcare environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years as a manager/supervisor within a healthcare or comparable setting is required.
- International accreditation experience is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Current knowledge of CSSD systems, management, quality assurance and procedures.
- Indication of progressive leadership, management and clinical positions.
- Knowledge of the functions in sterilization services, which includes surgical instruments.
- Knowledge of infection control principles, aseptic practices, sterilization, disinfection and distribution practices.
- Ability to direct a diverse and complex sterilization service with multiple levels of staff.
- Strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to speak and write in English.
- Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred.
