Job Description

The Director Environment Health Safety at Abu Dhabi Prots will be responsible to sustain healthy and safe workplace in AD Ports through implementing AD Ports Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System and fulfilling the requirements of national and international regulations, standards, and code of practices. Assisting in achieving target of zero harm and demonstrates the commitment to safe port operation. Assist in managing port business and activities in a manner designed to responsibly minimize HSE risks to a level, which is As Low As Reasonably Practical (ALARP). Accountable for planning, organizing, directing, operating and evaluating the occupational health, safety and Environment management system in Ports for implementation.

Duties of Director Environment Health Safety

  • Lead the implementation of the crisis Management, Business Continuities and Emergency Response Services.
  • Responsible for the implementation, communication, and coordination of all environmental, health, and safety programs for Abu Dhabi Ports.
  • Responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of Port Fire and Rescue Services through training, maintenance, inspection, exercises and drill programs.
  • Provide high-level recommendations and informed views regarding HSE aspects of new takeover ports with bottleneck identifications.
  • Advice in implementing and enforcing port regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards in compliance with local and international maritime laws and industry best practices.
  • Responsible for providing and overseeing Health, Safety and Environment programs and ensure terminal activities are carried out in compliance with AD Ports IHSEMS requirements.
  • Ensure that the Safety, Health, Environmental and Business Continuity requirements for all new ports are developed and in compliance with AD Ports IHSEMS, including issuing Management of Change and reviewed, approved and communicated prior to the implementation of the change.
  • Monitoring the Health, Safety and Environment performance of international ports.

What You’ll Do More?

  • Analysis, update and implementation of HSE procedures on site, based upon existing Policy.
  • Implement strategies to minimize the environmental impact of international port operations, including adopting sustainable practices, improving waste management, and reducing emissions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other relevant parties to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
  • Develop Audits schedules.
  • Provide training and corrective procedures.
  • Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
  • Submit monthly reports.
  • Manage, develop and maintain a facility’s environmental, health and safety programs.
  • Responsible for HSE related issues with stakeholders, customers, tenants and government entities.
  • Analyze new regulations, develop programs to implement them and implement.
  • Inform management of changes in regulations that will or may impact operations.
  • Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Ensure that all Para-Medic Services are in a serviceable condition.

Eligibility Requirements

The eligibility requirements for role of a Director Environment Health Safety are as under:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational health, or a related field.
  • A minimum 7 years experience in a similar role.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Familiarity with International HSE Regulations is a minimum requirement.
  • Good working knowledge of appropriate regulations and bylaws governing Ports, Harbors, Logistics and Shipping.
  • Effective keyboard skills and the ability to work with standard Microsoft computer applications, such as Word Training Ability.
  • Communication and written skills.
  • English language proficiency (reading and writing).
