Job Description
Strategy/Institutional Effectiveness & Quality Assurance Director at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence is responsible to lead the development, execution, and continuous refinement of MBZUAI’s strategic planning and objectives setting. To lead institutional effectiveness at MBZUAI, overseeing robust cycles of planning, assessing, analyzing, and improving processes, programs, and services that support MBZUAI’s mission, vision, and attainment of its strategic objectives. To champion and advance a culture of continuous improvement throughout MBZUAI, leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive quality assurance strategy that ensures compliance with accreditation standards and government regulations related to academic quality and administrative excellence.
Responsibilities of Director
Strategic planning and objectives setting
- Lead the design and implementation of world class MBZUAI wide planning processes that inform and scaffold the development of institutional strategy, divisional planning, and departmental planning.
- Work closely with leadership to define long term objectives and key performance indicators that position MBZUAI to achieve its mission.
- Guide the evaluation and analysis of strategic opportunities and associated strategic decisions by ensuring MBZUAI. MBZUAI Leadership is provided solid evidence, expert analysis, strategic insights, and sage advice to inform decision making.
- Lead and oversee strategic initiatives, ensuring best practice project management, monitoring, and data driven evaluation.
- Provide regular updates to MBZUAI leadership and relevant stakeholders on the progress and impact of strategic initiatives.
- Direct and oversee clear and compelling communication across channels that articulates MBZUAI’s strategic vision and objectives to internal and external audiences.
Institutional effectiveness and quality assurance
- Direct and oversee institutional research that gathers and analyzes relevant data that informs the assessment of organizational performance at all levels, and contributes to data driven decision making across MBZUAI.
- Direct and oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive quality assurance strategy that encompasses all aspects of academic programs. Student services, and administrative functions and includes robust systems of cyclical planning, assessment, analysis, and revision.
- Collaborate with academic leadership, faculty, researchers, and other relevant stakeholders to promote a shared organizational commitment to quality assurance.
- Ensure the development and continuous improvement of quality assurance policies, procedures, Guidelines in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and ensure MBZUAI’s compliance with accreditation standards, governmental regulations, and institutional policies related to academic quality and administrative excellence.
- Utilize data driven insights to assess the performance of academic programs and institutional processes and make insightful recommendations for improvements.
Leadership
- Provide visionary leadership and oversee the operations of the Strategy and Futures and Institutional Effectiveness & Quality Assurance teams, ensuring the key functions of the departments align with higher education best practices and that their outputs align with MBZUAI’s mission, vision, strategic priorities, and compliance requirements.
Job Requirements of Director
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Science (e.g., quality assurance, statistics, quality management major), or other relevant discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum 2 year experiencing similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices in higher education. Including experience with accreditation processes, assessment methodologies, and compliance standards.
- Experience in utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategies and quality assurance processes.
- Experience in budget oversight and resource allocation, ensuring the alignment of financial resources with strategic priorities.
Skills & Knowledge Desired
- Ten years of progressively increasing responsibility, successfully leading strategy development and implementation within a complex organization, at least five of which have been within a university.
- Proven ability to develop and implement innovative strategies that align with organizational goals, enhance institutional competitiveness, and address challenges in the higher education landscape.
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Including university leadership, faculty, staff, accreditation bodies, and industry partners.
- Knowledge and understanding of the transformative features of AI for business practice in multiple industrial spheres.
- Professional gravitas and dynamism appropriate to represent MBZUAI to stakeholders at senior levels in government and business.
- Exposure to Middle Eastern business and cultural practices.
