Job Description
​Basic Medical Sciences department at the College of Medicine, University of Sharjah invites applications for faculty position Assistant/Associate Professor Human Physiology. The successful candidate is expected to teach Human Physiology for medical students within an integrated, problem based curriculum as well as to postgraduate (MSc and PhD) biomedical students. Furthermore, S/he is expected to develop and conduct research at the Research Institute of Medical & Health Sciences (RIMHS). Prospective applicants holding PhD or equivalent with an Excellent record of academic performance and demonstrated expertise in Human Physiology are encouraged to apply.
Duties of Assistant/Associate Professor Human Physiology
- Deliver lectures to medical students in human physiology in an integrated problem based learning (PBL) curriculum.
- Develop research program based on their interests and experiences.
- Actively participate in scholarship and professional development within area of expertise.
- Facilitate weekly small group sessions in PBL program (Training can be provided).
- Advise undergraduate students.
- Active participation in departmental. assignments, university committees, and student activities.
- Actively participate in relevant professional activities in order to improve teaching and subject matter competence.
- Serve on faculty committees as appointed or elected.
- Participate in other activities as assigned by the department chair or college dean.
Job Requirements of Assistant/Associate Professor Human Physiology
- The candidate should be an MBBS holder with a PhD (or equivalent) in Human Physiology. ​​
- Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential.
- Experience in computer assisted delivery of course content.
- Has a strong record in research and publications.
- At least 3 years teaching experience in higher education institutions, medical/health sciences.
- Experience in Problem Based Learning is highly desirable.
Skills & Knowledge Desired
- Ability to relate physiology to clinical scenarios.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (In English).
- Strong interpersonal skills that can produce effective professor student interactions during both one on one (student advising) and in group (classroom) sessions.
- Sincere interest in assisting each student within a diverse and multi cultural community to maximize their academic, spiritual and personal potential.
