The Internal Medicine Specialist renders appropriate care for adult, elder and adolescent patients 14 years and older in Kanad hospital. He/ she diagnoses diseases and renders non-surgical care. The incumbent provides consultation in complex cases and manages internal medicine service.
Accountabilities of Internal Medicine Specialist
Outpatient Clinic:
- Examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases and injuries of patients by reviewing the history and clinical records of the patient.
- Performing appropriate physical examination.
- Ordering and interpreting appropriate laboratory, imaging and other diagnostic tests.
- Prescribing appropriate medication and treatment.
- Records findings, plan and treatment in the patient’s chart or electronic medical record if available.
- Practices preventative medicine whenever possible.
Inpatient Wards:
- Rounds in equal rotation with other Internists.
Qualifications
Following is the eligibility criteria for the role of the Specialist Internal Medicine (Arabic speaker) at Kanad Hospital:
- Degree: Medical doctor degree with specialization course in Internal Medicine.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years’ recent experience post qualification in a hospital setting.
- ObGyn experience would be a plus.
- Must be current in ACLS with experience running codes.
- License – Must be DOH/DHA licensed or DOH passer or DOH exam exempted.
Shifts & Schedule
- The position is for night-time (“nocturnist”) shifts.
- Schedule will be 5 days a week, with 12-hour shifts, of which 9.6 hours are considered working shifts and 2.4 hours are considered on-call.
