Job Description

There’s a spot open at one of the GEMS schools in Dubai for Music Production Tutor who really knows what they’re doing when it comes to music production and sound work. This is a full-time teaching job where you’ll be guiding learners — mostly under 18 but sometimes adults too — on how to use production tools, run studio sessions, and mix and edit tracks. You’ll be moving between classes at different locations, sometimes in the evening or even on weekends. If you know your way around Logic, Ableton, or any DAW really — and you’ve spent time in a studio setting stuff up, tweaking levels, maybe showing a friend or two how to fix a mix — that’s kind of what they’re after here. This isn’t a stand-at-the-front kind of teaching job either. You’ll be right in there with students, actually showing them how stuff works while they’re doing it. They’re looking for someone who doesn’t mind jumping between things, maybe handling a few classes in different spots, and who genuinely enjoys seeing others get better at what they love doing. They’d love someone who’s flexible with their time, communicates well, and enjoys helping others grow creatively. UAE-based applicants will be considered first.

Music Production & Sound Engineering Tutor

  • Responsibilities
  • Teach one-on-one or group sessions on music production and sound engineering basics.
  • Help students understand how to use DAWs like Logic, Pro Tools, or Ableton.
  • Walk them through studio setups, recording, mixing, and how to prep tracks for release.
  • Support live sound training, including setting up gear and troubleshooting.
  • Adjust your teaching style depending on the student’s level or genre preference.
  • Track student progress without being overly formal — just make sure they’re improving.
  • Help out during school events, showcases, or studio project days.
  • Be ready to work evenings or weekends if needed.
  • Keep your sessions safe, inclusive, and practical.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

Needs a degree in music, sound engineering, or something similar.

Experience

Should have worked in a music production or sound-related role.
Experience teaching others, formally or informally, is a big plus.

Skills

  • Knows how to use music software without needing a guide.
  • Can explain technical stuff without making it complicated.
  • Comfortable with studio gear — setting up, recording, mixing, etc.
  • Good with people — especially younger learners.
  • Flexible schedule and ready to move between different locations.
  • Can handle a class or session without needing a script.

Knowledge

  • Familiar with live and studio sound workflows.
  • Knows how to manage basic tech issues mid-session.
  • Aware of how different genres need different production approaches.
