Job Description

Campus Life Specialist at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence is responsible to support all student administration, events, and activities led by Campus Life to provide students with an optimal experience and to maintain relationships with students, potential future employers, and other stakeholders.

Duties of Campus Life Specialist

Student Administration:

  • Support the establishment, resourcing, budgets, and activities of student clubs that enhance the social and academic engagement and development of MBZUAI students.
  • Ensure the smooth management of student reimbursement and payments for various events and activities.
  • Manage the Campus Life email account and front desk and address students’ daily queries and requests. Initiate referrals to appropriate departments where required.
  • Collaborate with the General Services and Procurement departments to coordinate all aspects of the immigration process for onboarding and offboarding international students and all travel and hotel bookings for relocating students.
  • Coordinate the enrollment of students in the University’s health insurance policy and ensure the successful annual renewal of the policy.
  • Contribute to the organization of the student onboarding and orientation program to support the new students. Successful transition and living experience on campus.
  • Support the student exit process to ensure a successful offboarding experience.

Residence Management:

  • Ensure the appropriate communication and dissemination of information to student residents is in line with internal policies and procedures, including compliance procedures, allocations process, request to vacate procedure, and room changes.
  • Allocate students to appropriate residences under the supervision of the Head of Campus Life. Communicate this information to students, and ensure that all necessary authorizations, correspondences, and paperwork are completed correctly as required.
  • Deal effectively with student concerns, needs, inquiries, and complaints relating to accommodation, and make constructive contributions to solving problems, following guidelines and established procedures in conjunction with the General Services and Procurement departments.

Events and Programs:

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of a program of cultural events that promotes respect and understanding of UAE culture and the diverse cultures of students, fostering a safe, respectful, dynamic, multicultural student experience at MBZUAI.
  • Contribute to developing and delivering a program of on and off campus activities that promote student social accomplishment, personal growth, self awareness, and self confidence.
  • Contribute to developing and delivering initiatives that cultivate a culture of community amongst faculty, staff. Students that supports academic excellence, discussion and debate, cross specialty collaboration, and a firm sense of belonging at MBZUAI.
  • Contribute to the creation of an annual calendar of campus life events that aligns with MBZUAI’s. Academic calendar and ensures Campus Life activities are offered consistently throughout the year.
  • Promote campus life events to students, in consultation with Marketing and communications, including by utilizing social media, ensuring promotions engage students, and demonstrating cutting edge use of technology befitting the nature of the university and its programs.

Job Requirements of Campus Life Specialist

  • Bachelor’s degree in Events Management, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • 4 to 6 years of work experience in student affairs or relevant fields (e.g., events management, hospitality, student administration, etc.).

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Demonstrable knowledge of best practices in the provision of student support services to graduate students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work irregular hours to provide out of hours events and support to students.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven ability to provide effective pastoral guidance and crisis intervention.
  • Familiarity with software systems and database management for student administration.
