Responsibilities of Inventory Assistant
- Assist with receiving, inspecting, and recording incoming inventory shipments, ensuring accuracy and completeness of deliveries.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory levels and reconcile discrepancies.
- Organize and maintain inventory storage areas, ensuring proper labeling, shelving, and organization of products.
- Monitor inventory levels and stock movements, identifying slow moving or obsolete items and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist with the picking, packing, and shipping of outgoing orders, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders.
- Update inventory records and databases, including stock quantities, locations, and movement history, using inventory management software or spreadsheets.
- Collaborate with purchasing and procurement teams to forecast inventory needs, track order lead times, and optimize inventory levels.
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics staff to ensure efficient flow of goods and materials in and out of the inventory storage areas.
- Perform periodic audits and quality checks of inventory data and physical stock to maintain data integrity and compliance with inventory control standards.
- Assist with the implementation of inventory management best practices, process improvements, and training initiatives.
Requirements of Inventory Assistant
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in inventory management or related field preferred.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy items and operate material handling equipment as needed.
- Proven experience of 1-2 years working in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a similar role.
Skills and Knowledge Desired
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory tracking, counting, and record keeping.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software and systems; experience with barcode scanning technology preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of inventory control principles, procedures, and best practices.
