Job Description

The Department of languages College of Arts, Sciences and Information Technology at the University of Khorfakkan, United Arab Emirates, invite applications for a full time Academic Staff/Faculty position of professor or associate professor in TESOL or applied linguistics, beginning in August 2024. Applicants with a specialization in English Language Teaching are particularly encouraged to apply. This vacancy was announced by the university on January 18, 2024. Responsibilities of Academic Staff/Faculty

  • Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Contribute to the research activities and initiate research projects leading to effective publications in journals with high ranking.
  • Supervise postgraduate students’ research projects and theses (Master’s/PhD).
  • Contribute to the development of courses and programs (both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels) offered by the College.
  • Participate in accreditation processes especially CAA of UAE.
  • Perform all assigned administrative tasks by the program/department, college and university.
  • Mentor and advise students at all levels.

Job Requirements of Academic Staff/Faculty

  • Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts Doctor of Philosophy or equivalent.
  • Have demonstrated effective teaching experience in the above mentioned fields or related ones at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, for at least 3 years.
  • Experience in supervising Senior Projects, Master and PhD Theses/Dissertations.
  • Interest and experience in actively bridging links with industry and the community are also expected.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Have a strong record of accomplishment of Scopus indexed research publications in refereed scholarly international journals with good impact factors.
  • Proven track record of University and community service.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate computer technology into the curriculum.
