Job Description

An exciting job opportunity has been announced by SAAB for the job role of Mechanical Analysis Engineer Thermal Design  in Abu Dhabi. The selected candidate will play a critical role in the creation and future expansion of a specialized technical team dedicated to advancing thermal engineering solutions through product-based design and R&D activities.

Duties of A Mechanical Analysis Engineer Thermal Design

  • Translate general system requirements into objective thermal design constraints and objectives.
  • Perform engineering calculations to define and develop energy models and substantiate design recommendations.
  • Define, develop, and optimise comprehensive thermal management solutions at any system level.
  • Determine test procedures and measurement techniques to validate thermal and CFD analysis models.
  • Define and participate in the integration and testing processes of prototypes, subsystems, and products.
  • Assist in the selection and development of manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Manage technical aspects of subcontracted thermal engineering work.

Requirements of Mechanical Analysis Engineer Thermal Design

The requirements for role of Mechanical Analysis Engineer Thermal Design are as under:

  • Academic degree in a related field to thermal engineering: mechanical engineering, applied mechanics, energy engineering, or engineering physics.
  • Familiarity with the selection and use of ISO, EN and MIL standards and specifications.
  • Experience of a minimum of 5 years in the development of thermal management solutions for high-power electronics and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding and using analysis software, preferably Ansys Electronics module, OpenFOAM, or STAR CCM+.
  • Experience in developing, verifying, and validating coupled CFD conjugate heat transfer models.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Proficiency in the English language with excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in modelling, simulation, and visualisation of fluid flow, heat transfer, and turbulence.
  • Strong foundation in numerical analysis, programming, and scripting.
  • Ability to define technical specifications of commercial thermal components and equipment.
  • General understanding of engineering development cycles.
  • Operational proficiency in configuration control, change management, and design data structure.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Understanding of basic design of hardware for electronics – packaging, cabling and electromagnetic compatibility analysis.
  • Proficiency in the detailed selection of materials and manufacturing methods.
  • Adept at specifying and assessing simulation software and solving algorithms for future capabilities.
