Job Description
Emirates Airlines is hiring skilled and motivated candidate for the job role of Schedule Planning Controller in Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, tracking and identifying areas of key operational constraints and provide support to produce a balanced schedule. The successful candidate will participate and provide professional support to Schedule Development and Slots Portfolio Manager in slot negotiations at all airports across the EK network. Role Holder will also develop an Emirates marketing flight schedule through continuous networking with Emirates code-share partner airlines.
Duties of Schedule Planning Controller
- Analyse and recommend suitable deployment of aircraft and routings to yield best economic results and operational feasibility. Based on the commercial objectives, determine the right frequency pattern and aircraft type for all EK routes to assist Schedule Planning management team in implementing a profitable Operating Plan.
- Liaise with Crew Planning department at all stages of schedule preparation and provide inputs to design a crew optimal Operating Plan. Consider crew availability constraints and flight duty hours set by the UAE aeronautical authorities as flight timings, day of operation, aircraft type and flight routings have a direct impact on crew costs.
- Co-ordinate with the Engineering Department on a regular basis to integrate the planned schedules with the aircraft heavy maintenance plan. Ensure that the aircraft rotations provide sufficient ground time to carry out mandatory maintenance checks and comply with available airport infrastructure.
- Participate actively in airport slots negotiations with Schedule Development and Slots Portfolio Manager. Provide professional support during the slot allocation process, which is critical to these negotiations and vital for securing the desired arrival/departure times for EK flights, failing which the planned operations could be seriously jeopardised resulting in immense revenue loss to the company.
- Co-ordinate with International Affairs section to determine EK’s entitlements with regards to frequencies, capacities, aircraft types and route rights to explore opportunities for expanding EK’s network. In case of conflict between the entitlements and the planned schedules, suggest options to Manager Network Schedules and Slots Management.
- Co-ordinate with local EK offices/Civil Aviation authorities across the EK network to secure Civil Aviation landing rights for all EK operating and marketing flights. Ensure all applications to secure these rights comply with each country’s unique application formats and bilateral entitlements. Ensure all landing permits are updated with on-going schedule changes.
What You Will Do More
- Engage with partner airlines to identify requirements/issues, in order to agree. Execute Codeshare process (e.g. schedule testing, publishing in systems, weekly change updates, etc.). Ensure synchronisation and connectivity of code-share schedules to ensure Emirates is leveraging opportunities to maximize connections and revenues there of.
- Suggest ways to expand the extensive connectivity options between EK flights at Dubai in order to fully exploit the sixth freedom traffic potential which is an important component of EK’s total revenue generation. This exercise will also in turn help the development of Dubai as a strong aviation hub in the region.
- Independently administer schedule distribution data flow toL
- Major stakeholder systems within the company (e.g. MARS, CORE, POWER, RAPID, TARGET,
SCHEDULE REPOSITORY and CONNECTION BUILDER) and have a complete understanding of the
backend systems used to administer the data flow of these systems. - OAG, Cirium, and GDSs world-wide and ensure schedule, minimum connecting time (MCT) and
subsequent schedule changes are timely communicated so that EK schedules are displayed accurately in all above systems. - codeshare partners need to be updated with the latest Marketing schedules to ensure schedule
synchronisation. - Evaluate further enhancement in the automation of the schedule planning system and recommend customisation and functionality modifications to upgrade efficiency and accuracy of systems used (e.g. Schedule Planning, Schedule Repository, Schedule Distribution, Connection Builder, etc.).
Requirements for Role of Schedule Planning Controller
The requirements for the job role of Schedule Planning Controller are as under:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Honours with 5+ years experience in Commerical/ Sales/ Route Planning.
- Experience in Schedule Planning / Route Planning / Commerical / Sales / Reservations / Operations.
Skills And Knowledge Desired
- Sound knowledge of Flight Scheduling skills and methods.
- In-depth knowledge of IATA SSIM chapter 4 Standard Schedules and Message procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of IATA SSIM chapter 6 Airport Co-ordination/Advice procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of IATA SSIM chapter 7 Presentation and transfer of schedule data set.
- In-depth knowledge of IATA SSIM chapter 8 – Presentation, Application and transfer of Minimum Connecting Time (MCT) Data
- Knowledge of IATA Schedule co-ordination procedures.
- Ability and Skills: Proven ability to work independently with minimum amount of supervision. Strong communication and negotiating skills (both written and spoken skills). Excellent computer skills to use the scheduling system.
