Job Description

NMC Healthcare presently has a job opening for suitably qualified and experienced candidate for position of a Specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology (Laparoscopic Surgeon) at Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Zone 15, Abu Dhabi, AE. Candidate will maintain an active Privilege per the specialty that is consistent with the scope of services and the required experiences to practice it, which is renewable every 2 years. This is an Intermediate level full time role. For this position salary ranges from 25000-55000 AED, which may be slightly negotiable during the interview process.

Responsibilities of Specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology

  • Comply with the rules, regulations and procedures of practicing the Profession, as per his/her grade and Specialty.
  • Care for women during prenatal, natal and post-natal periods.
  • Monitor patient’s condition and progress and re-evaluate treatments as necessary.
  • Perform Cesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed to preserve patients’ health & deliver babies safely.
  • Interview new patients to assess their symptoms, needs, or problems; record and utilize their medical history for diagnosis
  • Perform well-women exams that include pap smears, pelvic, and breast exams
  • Conduct follow-ups with patients to monitor and track their condition
  • Order and analyze necessary tests, screenings, biopsies, scans, etc. to effectively diagnose a problem
  • Direct, advise, and supervise medical staff including nurses, physician assistants, med techs etc. on proper procedures and protocol
  •  Treat diseases and injuries of a woman’s reproductive organ and prescribe postnatal and prenatal care
  • Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments as necessary.
  • Maintain record of the patient including present/past/family history prior to diagnosing or treating the case.
  • provide prenatal care for women and their babies before birth
  • They are the ones who prescribe the right drug, compresses and antibiotics that should be taken by the patient.
  •  Obstetrician and Gynecologist are the ones who make the plans and procedures in every operation. All patients depend on them so they should plan well.
  •  Deliver babies and perform other birth-related duties as needed, such as inducing labor, performing Cesarean section births and performing emergency surgery when needed
  •  monitors the mother and the baby throughout childbirth, and oversees the administration of medications
  •  They are the ones who give the conduct Papanicolaou screening to detect malignant and premalignant process in the ectocervix in order to prevent cervical cancer.
  •  Provide Dietary tips and conducts regular examinations for pregnant women.

What you will do more

  •  Suggest alternative treatments in case there is no health progress.
  •  Perform Surgeries in case of chronic and serious reproductive disorders.
  •  Also provide health care tips for  the babies
  •  Prescribe treatment and determine the quantity and usage in legible writing including the name, signature and date on the prescription; alert the patient or his family, as the case may be, to the importance of adhering to treatment instructions and to any significant and expected side-effects of the medical or surgical treatment.
  •  Inform the patient’s family of the nature and degree of seriousness of his/her illness.
  •  Monitor complications of medical or surgical treatment and initiate remedial action where possible.
  •  Co-operate with other physicians involved in the patient’s treatment, provide information on patient’s medical condition and the course of treatment whenever requested to do so, and consult with a specialist colleague if the case so requires.

Requirements for Role of Specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology

  • MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited and recognized university.
  • Specialty in Obstetrics & Gynecology must be obtained from recognized and accredited university.
  • Additional Qualification supported by surgical Logbook in Level 3 Laparoscopic procedures.
  • Maintain at all times an active license in home country and an active DOH License consistent with specialty with a strong surgical Logbook.
  • Minimum Clinical experience in a hospital facility for 5 years with similar at least 1 year supervisory experience or similar position.
