Mubadala Health (Amana Healthcare) is seeking a Tissue Viability Nurse Team Leader to join their team in Abu Dhabi. The incumbent will lead the development and implementation of an effective tissue viability and wound care management service for Amana Healthcare.
Responsibilities of Tissue Viability Nurse
- To implement a contemporary, evidenced-based model of care in the prevention and management of skin and tissue injuries.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with the interdisciplinary team.
- To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research, evidence-based practice, and change management.
- Provides professional leadership and acts as positive role model and mentor to nursing colleagues.
- Promotes an interdisciplinary team approach to the prevention and management of skin and tissue injuries.
- Provides professional leadership and mentorship for nurses who have undertaken expansion of scope of practice in the assessment of the diabetic foot and lower limb vascular assessment.
- Demonstrates accountability, critical thinking and leadership in conflict management and problem solving.
- Recommends and manages appropriate resources to support the prevention and management of skin and tissue injuries
- Acts as a resource for staff regarding tissue viability, wound and stoma care management.
- Leads in the recruitment and professional development of Tissue Viability nurses
- Develops and implements a program to assist in professional development and succession planning of Tissue Viability and Wound Care nurses post completion of a training needs analysis.
- Imparts knowledge and skills within the interdisciplinary team.
- Positively and actively participates in organisational change.
- Audits compliance with organisational documentation standards.
- Monitors and supports organizational key performance indicators.
- Provides clinical leadership with the assessment, management and evaluation of care of skin and tissue injuries.
What you’ll do as Tissue Viability Nurse
- Recommend appropriate, evidence-based regimens for the prevention and management of skin and tissue injuries.
- Ensure that all patients with skin and tissue injuries are treated as per clinical orders and current wound care protocols/ guidelines.
- Recognize the boundaries of their scope of practice and limits of own competence.
- Participate in interdisciplinary and family meetings to address skin and tissue injury-related concerns in the plan of care.
- Review all incidents of skin and tissue injuries and correctly categorize these as reflected in the performance indicators.
- Ensure that the performance indicators accurately reflect the skin and tissue injuries within the organization.
- Promote quality of life and embraces the unique social and cultural role of the family.
- Ensure that action plans and improvement projects are developed and implemented, based on a root cause analysis for all performance indicators which exceed stated benchmarks.
- Ensure that a regular incidence and prevalence study is conducted to correlate accuracy of reported skin and tissue injuries.
- Network and establish linkages with local/ national wound care and tissue viability groups and brand representatives within the region.
- Provide clinical leadership in the arena of lymphoedema management with the provision of complete decongestive therapy.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team to provide lower limb vascular assessment inclusive of diabetic foot screening and ankle brachial pressure index monitoring for cohort of patients with diabetes.
- Responsible for caseload management of tissue viability service across inpatient, homecare and outpatient services.
- Participate as a member of multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care from primary to acute care.
- Actively participate in meetings regarding resident/patient care where required.
- Develop and maintain own Professional Portfolio to meet all policy/standards and licensing requirements for the UAE and home country.
Qualification & Experience
Following are the role requirements for Tissue Viability Nurse Team Leader at Muabadala Health:
- Bachelor’s in Nursing.
- Post graduate qualification in Tissue Viability from recognized authorizing body.
- Current UAE License as a Registered Nurse, Specialty Nurse or Nurse Practitioner.
- 5-7 years of experience.
