Responsibilities of A Radiographer
- Assessing patients and interpreting clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques.
- Performing a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-quality images.
- Observing and maintaining contact with patients during their waiting time, examination and post-examination stay in the department.
- Assisting in more complex radiological examinations under the supervision of a radiologist.
- Working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that an efficient service is provided to patients, for example by sharing specialist knowledge and expertise.
- Using initiative to prioritize, deliver in a timely manner.
- Manage workload effectively to control the workflow within the department.
- Communicating with patients and others in a clear, respectful and appropriate way.
- Positioning patients safely for examinations and, if necessary, adapting standard techniques depending on medical conditions associated with disability, illness or trauma.
- Dealing confidently with difficult situations.
- recording imaging identification and patient documentation quickly and accurately and observing protocols to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality.
- Learning new techniques and technologies as required by professional bodies and participating in annual performance appraisal programs.
- Supervising assistant practitioners, and other staff, and delivering appropriate training.
- Performing necessary administrative tasks, when required.
What You’ll Do More
- Understanding and observing health and safety at work and welfare issues, including ionizing radiation regulations, to protect yourself and others.
- Undertaking quality control checks on X-rays and associated equipment, and contributing to quality assurance and audit initiatives.
- Ensuring that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and any faults are reported.
- Reporting incidents of injury to yourself or others according to departmental procedures.
- Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and tidiness within the department.
- Routine X-rays and Portable OPG & C-ARM.
- To ensure the rooms and equipment are kept clean.
- To explain the examination details to the patient before starting the procedures.
- To ensure that necessary radiation protection is given to the patient.
- To take x-ray as per the instruction and give it for digital processing.
- To check the quality of X-rays before the patients leave the department.
- To send the images for reporting to doctor’s reporting lobby through PACS system.
- To attend the bedside X-rays whenever required.
- To perform any other work/job as when assigned by the superior.
Requirements for role of Radiographer
The eligibility requirements for role of a Radiographer are as under:
- College Degree in Radiography or its equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Current license in the country of origin, with DoH License to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

- The ability to apply technical skills, together with a demonstrable knowledge of and interest in sciences, such as anatomy, physiology and physics.
- Self motivation and the ability to work under pressure.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Spoken Arabic is advantageous but not essential.
