Duties of A Specialist Physician General Medicine
- Supports and adheres to all hospital departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
- Supports and participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes.
- Assists with Consultant staff in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times.
- Attends Divisional meetings as invited.
- Supports the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents.
- Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Consultant Staff.
- Under the supervision of the consultant physician, diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty.
- Assists the Consultant Physician in supervising the activities of junior medical staff, and jointly assumes responsibility for the care they provide.
- Complies with all hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices.
- Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources.
- Leads ward rounds; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice.
- Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures.
- Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required.
- Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required.
Qualification Requirements
- Master’s degree from Tier 2 or Tier 3.
- Current national license or equivalent.
- Tier 2: NLT 2 years of clinical experience post qualification in an internationally accredited institute.
- Tier 3: 3 years of experience post qualification.
- UAE nationals: No additional experience required post board certification.
For UAE Nationals + Non-UAE Nationals enrolled in HAAD accredited residency programs:
- No experience required post board certification.
- Tier 3: NLT 3 years clinical experience as a Specialist post qualification in an internationally accredited institute.
