Job Purpose of An Accounts Payable Accountant

• To be responsible for managing the accounts payable department/section within the organization, for ensuring that accounting policies and procedures are being complied with.
• Also responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate payment of accounts payable commitments in addition to the timely and efficient processing of payroll while maintaining confidentiality.

Duties of An Accounts Payable Accountant

• Assist in preparation of related accounting policies and procedures manuals and ensure that the department implements them.
• Provide interpretation of accounting and financial policy related to accounts payables to the other colleagues in AD PORTS.
• Supervise activities to ensure timely payment of invoices as per agreed terms and conditions.
• Review, check and verify suppliers accounts, invoices and claims for accuracy of payments.
• Supervise processing of Purchase Orders and invoices with proper approval to generate timely and accurate payments to suppliers.
• Handle payment vouchers and manage petty cash payments.
• Maintain control over primary ledger and subsidiary ledgers for accounts payable and payroll.
• Prepare and review payroll report on a monthly basis and ensure its accuracy.
• Process payroll, expenses and advance processing and ensure approvals by the authorized personnel.
• Reconcile all AP accounts at GL level and also employee advances and loan accounts.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA, CMA, ACCA will be an added advantage.

Experience

• 3-5 years of previous proven experience.
