Job Description
Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMCA) is seeking an experienced Charge Nurse CCU in Ajman, UAE. SKMCA was established as part of His Highness the president initiative, with the aim of providing medical services in various specialties to citizens and residents of the Northern Emirates. Sheikh Khalifa Medical City – Ajman includes 4 hospitals Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital, Sheikh Khalifa Hospital -Women and Children, Rashid Center for Diabetes and Researches and Sheikh Khalifa Hospital – Masfoot. In order to continue the improvement of the health care services, Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation has been applied in SKMCA.
Role of Charge Nurse CCU
Charge Nurse CCU oversees and provides direct nursing evaluation, procedures, and/or other related care and consultation to critical care patients as needed in the cardiac care unit.
Responsibilities of Charge Nurse CCU
- Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
- Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications.
- Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the
administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse. - Provides basic, bedside care.
- Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation.
Your Duties
- Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
- Order, interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s condition.
- Take samples for lab work, order prescribed lab work and evaluate/interpret lab reports.
- Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient.
- Respond to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.
- Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
- Apply Hemodynamic, Phlebotomy and IV protocols.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients. Interpret and record electronic
displays, such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and
cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, manometers, oxygen pumps. - Monitor catheters, leads and tubing for proper placement and functioning.
- Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring/life support equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
Qualification & Experience
- B.Sc. degree in nursing or equivalent qualifications with minimum of 3 Years study duration from an accredited nursing program.
- Valid/current national nursing license.
- For UAE National: Minimum of 2 Years clinical experience post qualification in appropriate and relevant healthcare settings & Minimum of 1 year experience as Charge Nurse in a particular unit.
- For Expats: Minimum of 4 Years clinical experience post qualification in appropriate and relevant healthcare settings & Minimum of 2 Years experience as Charge Nurse in a particular unit.
