Job Description
University Hospital Sharjah is looking for a Male Physiotherapist to join their team in a job opportunity published on January 22, 2024. He will take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have complex or chronic presentation, and to determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records . This person will undertake a team leader role in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the physiotherapy service provided for both out-patient and in-patient services.
Responsibilities of Physiotherapist
- Actively participates in upholding and promoting the vision and culture of University Hospital – Sharjah (UHS).
- Complies with all UHS policies and procedures and fire regulations
- Participates in all aspects of the International Accreditation program to assist UHS attain and maintain international accreditation standards.
- Participates in commissioning assigned areas and associated Clinical areas.
- Undertakes the comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative and analytical skills, and formulates individualized management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning, utilizing a wide range treatment skills and options to formulate a Specialized programme of care.
- Accepts clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patient and organizes this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
- Coordinates with the physicians like Orthopaedic, Rheumatology, Paediatric, Cardio, Gynae and Surgeons regarding patient’s progress and discussing future plans.
- Provides spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to colleagues and other professionals
- Promotes understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and ensures a consistent approach to patient care.
- Trains, supervises and manages performance of more junior staff, technical instructors, assistants and students, ensuring high standard of care.
- Communicates effectively with patients to maximize rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of condition.
- Communicates effectively and work collaboratively with medical, nursing and therapy colleagues to ensure delivery of a coordinated multi-disciplinary service. This will include case conferences, ward rounds and discharge plans.
Your Duties as Physiotherapist
- Responsible for ensuring the effective selection and use of all treatment resources available both in the department and on the wards.
- Responsible for equipment used in carrying out physiotherapy duties to adhere to departmental policy, including competence to use equipment. Ensure the safe use of equipment by others through teaching, training and supervision of practice.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date documentation and communicate assessment and treatment results using appropriate form of reports.
- Be actively involved in the monthly collection of appropriate data and statistics for the use of the department.
- Comply with the organisational and departmental policies and procedures and to be involved in the reviewing and updating as appropriate. Follow the general professional guidelines and standards.
- Will retain all necessary registration/license requirements.
- Participate in internal orientation, mandatory, ongoing education programs.
- Attend external conferences, workshops, seminars and courses that will enhance and maintain a current knowledge base
- Work any shift as per the duty roster of the physiotherapy Department when designated.
- Manage orthopaedic, neurology, cardiac, pediatric, geriatric, gynaecology cases with advanced physiotherapy techniques like Electrotherapy, exercises therapy, PNF techniques, manual techniques
Eligiblity Criteria
Following are the requirements for the role of Physiotherapist (male) at UHS:
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy.
- At least 3 years of experience.
- Has a valid Ministry of Health Evaluation.
Other Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid interpersonal communication skills for working with patients, their families and other medical staff.
- Detail-oriented, organized, self-directed and quick-thinking. Sensitive to patients’ needs and physical struggles.
- Able to motivate well and also must be physically fit to show patients how to perform various treatment plan exercises as well as lift disabled patients when necessary.
