Job Purpose of A Nurse Educator
Instructs and trains nursing staff, helping them develop and maintain their clinical and professional skills.
Duties of A Nurse Educator
- Identifies training needs of each staff, plans, prepares and implements an ongoing education program for all nursing staff and evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
- Supports an environment that allows staff to acquire skills, identify and develop new ideas and ensures commitment to organizational goals.
- Provides leadership in support of quality initiatives and promotion of healthy workplace environment.
- Builds relationships with staff, peers and colleagues to support interdisciplinary and inter departmental planning aimed to improve patient outcomes.
- Liaises effectively with other healthcare providers both internal and external to the Organization.
- Facilitates effective communication between patient, family and interdisciplinary healthcare team as required.
- Monitors and evaluates the quality of nursing care provided.
- Actively participates in accreditation activities.
- Audits compliance with organizational documentation standards.
- Supports and participates in ongoing educational programs within the nursing department.
- Assesses the learning needs of all staff through training need analysis.
- Prepares an annual training calendar as per the learning requirement of staff.
- Monitors the level of compliance with mandatory education for all staff in the concerned Department.
- Monitors the competency-based orientation programs for nursing staff to improve the of Skills and knowledge.
- Prepares educational programme/activities based on emerging challenges, issues, trends and needs in nursing.
What You’ll Do More?
- Regularly meets the Nursing in-charge of specific departments to assess their learning needs.
- Involve the staff in selecting, planning and evaluating educational activities.
- Develops and maintains clinical competency checklists as per requirement of each clinical Area.
- Train and monitor the staff in mandatory competencies and department specific Competencies.
- Develops and implements new competencies for various clinical areas as and when needed.
- Liaises with a multidisciplinary team for educational activities.
- Provides clinical supervision to the staff.
- Periodically audits nursing assessment forms and care plans of patients for continuity of Care.
- Conducts organized, timely nursing rounds to assess current situation of the patients.
- Acts as clinical/managerial resource for In-charge nurses and all nursing staff.
- Acts as an advocate for patients and nurses.
- Actively participates in the nominated hospital committee meetings.
- Conducts HOD accredited and non-accredited Continuing Nursing Education programme.
- Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
- Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
- Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
Who Can Apply?
Qualification
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing from an accredited university.
Certification & Licensure
- MSC/BSC nursing, certification course in BLS, ACLS.
- Registered Nurse, DOH Licensed.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience with minimum of 2 years as Nurse Educator.
Knowledge and Skills Desired
- Knowledge of relevant anatomy, physiology, and evidence-based practices
- Ability to express oneself in the areas of communication verbal, written, non-verbal.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current computer system used in the organization.
- Demonstrates effective delegation skills and completeness assignment accurately and on time.
- Demonstrates adherence to safety and risk management policies.
